Changes in AP Test Preparation
Students planning to take AP exams in the 2010-12 academic year should be aware of recent changes in AP courses and exams.
Students getting ready for AP tests preparation should consider recent changes to AP courses and exams. The College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Program announced in November 2009 it was changing AP courses and exams in world languages, history and science. According to the announcement, changes to AP French Language and Culture, German Language and Culture and World History will be implemented first, effective for the 2011-12 academic year.
“AP is the gold standard in American education and the leading program in high schools offering college-level course work to students, and these changes will spread best practices across AP classrooms worldwide,” said President of the College Board Gaston Caperton in a press release. “More than ever before, the high standards found within the AP Program will have the power to transform schools and lives.”
According to the announcement, the revisions will enable individual courses to place a stronger emphasis on critical thinking. In addition, the new course materials will plainly describe the goals of each class and should better help instructors organize their curricula.
Tutoring companies around the nation including child education franchise C2 Educate are already prepared to offer students personalized AP tutoring sessions tailored to these changes. More specifically, C2 Educate offers AP test preparation for the changes in the AP science course and exam that will take effect in the 2012-13 academic year. Along with AP test preparation, students can also prepare for the SATs by taking the SAT diagnostic test.
College Board Vice President Trevor Packer said in a press release, “These developments directly support what many AP teachers are already doing to deliver great college-level courses: integrating concepts and skills so that students develop a depth of understanding that they will carry forward into further college studies and their careers.”
